Privacy Policy for Atlas - Task + Calendar
Effective Date: 1/1/2025
At Atlas - Task + Calendar, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use our app, which runs exclusively on Apple platforms. By using Atlas - Task + Calendar, you consent to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of data in order to provide the full functionality of the app:
- Personal Data: We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) without your consent. The app may request access to your device’s calendar and notifications to provide task management and event features.
- Usage Data: We collect non-personal information to improve the app's functionality, including how users interact with the app (e.g., the features you use, events you create, etc.), device information (e.g., device model, OS version), and crash logs.
- iCloud and Core Data: Your tasks and calendar events are stored privately in your iCloud database and on your device. We do not have access to this data. It is securely stored and synchronized across your devices via iCloud, ensuring your data is available only to you. This includes all data related to tasks, calendar events, and reminders you create or modify.
2. Data Storage
- Core Data and iCloud: All task and calendar data is stored locally on your device using Core Data. If iCloud sync is enabled, this data is also backed up and synchronized across devices via your private iCloud database. Only you, the user, have access to this data, and we do not have any access to your iCloud-stored data. Your data remains private and secure.
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to track app performance, monitor crashes, and gather anonymous usage statistics. These services help us improve the app's functionality and identify bugs. Data collected by Firebase is anonymized and does not include any personally identifiable information.
3. How We Use Your Data
The data we collect is used for the following purposes:
- Syncing and Backup: Your tasks and calendar events are synchronized across your Apple devices through iCloud to ensure consistency and availability of data.
- Improving the App: We use the data collected through Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to improve app performance, fix bugs, and enhance user experience.
- Usage Analytics: We collect anonymized data on how you use the app to make it better, but this data is non-personal and does not include sensitive information.
4. Sharing of Your Data
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. Your task and calendar data stored in your iCloud private database is not accessible by us.
However, we may share non-personal data (such as crash logs and anonymized usage statistics) with third-party services like Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. These services help us monitor app performance and improve the user experience, but they do not have access to your personal data.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data only for as long as you use the app. If you uninstall the app or stop using it, your data will remain stored on your device and iCloud (if syncing is enabled) until you choose to delete it. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics retain anonymized data according to their own data retention policies.
6. Security
We take reasonable precautions to ensure that your data is secure:
- Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and iCloud is encrypted using Apple’s encryption standards.
- App Security: We employ industry-standard security practices to prevent unauthorized access to the app and protect your data from breaches.
However, no data transmission or storage method is 100% secure, and while we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee complete security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and Delete Your Data: You can access and manage your tasks and calendar events directly within the app. If iCloud syncing is enabled, your data will be available across your Apple devices. You can delete your data at any time from both the app and iCloud.
- App Permissions: You can manage permissions for access to your device’s calendar and notifications via your device’s settings.
- Opt-out of Analytics: You may choose to disable analytics and crash reporting via the app’s settings. Doing so may limit our ability to improve the app.
8. Third-Party Links
The app may contain links to external websites or services that are not operated by us. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these third-party services.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected within the app and on our website. You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any updates.
